Recruitment Business in need of improved financial control

A recent acquisition had placed a strain on the existing financial control and reporting of a specialist recruitment group. SM-J met with the Managing Director to discuss the requirements. One of our experienced interim accountants, who had worked with SM-J in the past, immediately came to mind as the best person to help the business. Within a matter of days the interim financial controller was fully operational and bringing his proven experience to bear on the business.

High profile London retail store 

The CEO of a major store was concerned that the finance department was not producing sufficiently meaningful financial information and was generally underperforming. The CEO needed an excellent interim FD to quickly take charge of the department while a major executive search firm sourced a permanent FD.
Operating on a fast track in competition with leading interim providers, an interim FD with a proven track record of success in major retail stores was successfully engaged.
Our interim FD worked closely with the CEO and Board and restored the credibility of the finance department, receiving an excellent reference for his efforts.

Private equity backed Healthcare group

The Chairman of a new healthcare group was referred to us by someone who had worked with SM-J in the past. The group was about to close a private equity backed transaction but the Finance Director was unable to join the business until his notice period had elapsed. In the meantime, an interim FD was urgently needed to oversee the transaction and integrate the companies.
Working to a very tight budget, we were able to provide a part-time interim FD on a flexible basis to accomodate peaks and troughs in workload. The new FD was able to benefit from the preparatory work of an experienced chartered accountant who had identified issues which would allow the new FD to prioritise his work from the outset.

Leading passenger transport business in London

This significant transport group was faced with a major re-structuring and capital raising which would move the group forward. The Chairman and CEO recognised that the Board needed to be strengthened by someone who combined excellent financial and commercial skills with ability to communicate at all levels in the organisation - on a project basis.

The interview process concentrated on establishing the right chemistry between the parties. We successfully provided a highly commercial, experienced chartered accountant who guided the Board and the business through re-structuring, due diligence, acquisitions, and general transformation into a leading provider of passenger transport in London.
